An Autumn without the Summer

Trees grew old, and leaves turned brown But never fell to make way for new leaves. Or rest in Earth's arms, and turn to dust, As if meant to be in a dreamless sleep, On an Autumn Evening. Crops kept bearing fruits, And there was way too much food. People grew tired of eating, The taste, no matter how good, Started to fade away. They longed to see an empty field, But burning down green crops, Felt impossible to do! Then came the rains out of nowhere, Rivers crossing boundaries, Water started flooding everywhere. Oceans filled to the brim, And the Sun started to disappear. Skies turned darker, And there was sunshine in everyone's prayers. One fine day, a kid climbed a tree, Plucked a leaf, and left it for gravity. All the other leaves followed it, Letting go of their misery. Soon, clouds paved the way, As the Sun returned to its glory. After a long time, Autumn met Summer. Edited by Sanath K Written by Suraj C
